Sheffield Sport in Colleges (SSIC) is a newly established organisation that began in October, 2008. We work with the further education colleges across Sheffield to increase the development of college based enrichment activities through greater participation in sport (including volunteering and leadership), college competition and links with clubs and other sport providers in the wider community.
To have a clear plan for development of sports related participation opportunities amongst 16 to 19 year olds in education in Sheffield.
To increase the number of 16 to 19 year olds in education participating in sports related enrichment activities.
To increase competitive opportunities both within college and against other FE institutions.
To make effective links between the FE colleges and local community sports providers.
To provide opportunities for 16 to 19 year olds to devlop volunteering and leadership skills through formal accreditation and high quality deployment opportunities.
To enhance the provision of sports related activities for underrepresented young people aged 16 to 19.
To contribute to the development of pathways for students into sports employment.
To utilise Gifted and Talented students as positive role models to incresase participation in sports related activities.
